Phase Measurement Method for Millimeter-wave 3-tone Signal using Electro-optic Frequency Conversion

(in English) A phase measurement method for millimeter-wave 3-tone signal has been proposed using electro-optic frequency conversion by a three-frequency optical local signal. The three-frequency local signal instead of conventional single-frequency local signal was used for frequency conversion and bandwidth reduction on the intermediate frequency (IF) signal. A 300-GHz band signal with 3-tone of 100-MHz spacing was converted to the IF signal with that of 4-Hz spacing which can be acquired by low sampling rate of 50 Sample/s. The experimental results of phase measurements agreed with theoretical phase taking account of 3rd-order nonlinearity, and the standard deviation of the measured phase was less than 1 degree.
