Fabrication and Evaluation for Polymer Waveguide Coupler Devices Using the Imprint Method

(in English) With the spread of cloud computing services, optical links based on multimode fibers (MMFs) enabling high bandwidth density data transmission have been deployed in datacenter networks. In the next phase, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technologies are expected to be employed even in the short-reach MMF links in order to support huge transmission capacities. In our laboratory, we have demonstrated excellent optical characteristics of graded-index (GI) core multimode polymer waveguides. In this research, GI polymer waveguide based optical coupler are fabricated using the imprint method and characterized for the application to low loss MUX devices in MMF WDM links.
