A Proposal of Dimming Control Scheme for Visible Light CDM Communication Using Modified Prime Sequence Codes

(in English) Visible-light communication systems are suitable to realize secure indoor networks. In this paper, we propose a new dimming control method for visible-light communication systems. Our method is based on a synchronous optical code-division multiplexing (CDM) system using modified prime sequence codes (MPSCs) and the equal-weight orthogonal (EWO) interference canceller. This dimming control method uses both of MPSC and inverted MPSC codewords as signature sequences. Dimming level is determined by the ratio of inverted MPSC codewords in a frame which consists of several CDM slots. It is shown that the proposed method achieves multi-level dimming control without increasing a chip rate. Computer simulation is performed to show bit error rate performance of the proposed scheme.
