In these days, microphones need to be available at strong electromagnetic environments such as the electric car and power equipment in association with fault diagnosis based on abnormal sounds. In this study, a novel microphone has been proposed using a hetero-core fiber optic sensor which detected a displacement of a silicone rubber membrane. An experiment was conducted for detecting a vibration of the membrane when receiving sounds from adjacent speaker. As a result, it was confirmed that the hetero-core fiber sensor linearly responded to the amplitude of displacement under 4.1 μm of the membrane and furthermore reproduced the waveform of vibration on the optical loss response. |
