Performance Evaluation of Human Orientation Estimation Method Using Array Antenna

(in English) Recently,the number of eldery people liveing alone is increasing.
The demand for efficient and effective monitoring system has been increased.
In this paper, we present the estimation method of human body orientation using microwave.
Antennas are placed around the living body and vital signs such as breathing and heart beat are observed from the reflected wave from the living body.
Since the reflected waves from the front of living body have the greatest fluctuation due to the influence of respiration, the direction of the antenna with the largest fluctuation is selected and estimated as the direction of the front of the living body.
Based on the experimental results with three subjects, the median values of angular error of human orientation are ${10.88}^circ$, ${26.38}^circ$ and ${27.29}^circ$ and it is found that the human orientation can be estimated without using the prior information.
