Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) DX (Digital Transformation) is put forth by network functions virtualization where network slicing has become the essential core technology for constructing communication infrastructure. In order to provide and develop new and flexible services with tenants, it is necessary to analyze the lifecycle of network resources and to provide a mechanism for dynamically allocating available network resources to the tenants. In near future, IoT devices of various standards and huge numbers (assumed to be more than 50 billion units in 2020) will be connected to the wireless network, and various service operators will provide various IoT servies we have never seen before. It is necessary to greatly imporve the frequency utilization efficiency of the sensor network and the wireless system, by applying network virtualization technology and platform technology, and the technologies for integrated controling of wired and wireless network, which realize remarkably precise radio waves scheduling in space and time.In this research report, we propose two novel technologies. First, we propose multi-layer slicing structure where upper layer slices enable added (temporal and functional) values on top of lower slices. For example, the top layer slice represents service level and the bottom layer is virtualization of physical infrastructure resources. Second, as an application of the proposed multi-layer slice model, we present a middle layer between the top and the bottom layer slices called “resource pool” that implements life-cycle management of resources and especially adds temporal value, that is, acceleration of resource allocation. For layered slices, it is necessary to develop technologies to solve new problems related to each layer, and the four institutes cooperate to resolve the issues of the layered slice structure.
