In this report, an estimation method of abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness by microwave measurement using through-hole waveguide is studied. Numerical simulations are carried out to emulate the measurement by inserting a two--layer cylinder simulating muscle and fat of the human body into a two--port rectangular waveguide having a through hole. In the simulations, the fat thickness of the two--layer cylindrical model is varied, and the scattering coefficients are calculated for four frequencies. As a result, different scattering coefficients are observed depending on the fat thickness, indicating the possibility of fat thickness estimation. In addition, an estimation model of abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness is created using machine learning technique with the results of scattering coefficients obtained by numerical simulation. |
