Outdoor Experiments of Integrated Access and Backhaul Using 39 GHz Band

(in English) Research and development for 5G is accelerating toward the start of commercial services in 2020. The first version of 5G specification was published in December 2017. In the future, it is also important to expand 5G for 2020 and beyond. In 3GPP Release 16, Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) has been discussed for expanding 5G coverage. Therefore, we constructed the experimental system of IAB using 39 GHz experimental equipment in order to clarify the feasibility and the performance. To realize backhaul link and access link in the same frequency band, TDM-based frame structure and SDM/TDM-based frame structure are introduced and evaluated. In this trial, throughput of 664 Mbit/s can be achieved using IAB with 39 GHz band even when UE is deployed in out of the BS coverage. Furthermore, the user-plane latency of 1.68 ms is achieved, and we have demonstrated that high speed and low latency can be provided to out of the BS coverage by IAB.
