[Poster Presentation] A Study on ML Channel Parameters Estimation in Diffusive Molecular Communications

(in English) Molecular communication is one of promising communication technologies that transmits information using biomolecules (e.g., protein).
Due to its biocompatibility, it is expected to apply molecular communications in nano-scale environments as a means of bio-nanomachines. For diffusion-based molecular communications, channel impulse response (CIR) for a particular system model is required for optimal detector and equalizer designs. However, the channel parameters in the mathematical model of CIR were assumed to know in advance in the previous studies. In this paper, we proposed a maximum likelihood estimation method to estimate the distance between the transmitted and received molecules. Then, the communication characteristics with the distance estimation were evaluated in terms of the BER (Bit Error Rate) performances.
