We have investigated to realize a magnetic hologram memory using a stable magnetic garnet as recording material. A control of heat diffusion generated during recording is important for recording clear magnetic fringes. We have proposed multilayer media in which transparent heat sink layers are inserted in magnetic garnet and showed that error free data recording and reconstruction can be performed by using collinear recording method. In this report, we report on the development of this multilayer recording medium. The thermal design method for determining the film thicknesses of the multilayer film by a simple model is shown, and it results the improvement of diffraction efficiency. This suggests the thermal diffusion control by the multilayer film structure is effective for recording media. |
