[Tutorial Lecture] Near Field kQ Product and Poincare Distance between Dipole Antennas

(in English) This paper lectures on twin dipole antennas from the wireless power transfer aspect. Since Friis formula is no longer applicable in the near-field region, we employ kQ product as an index of power transfer performance. Then assuming optimum impedance matching circuits at both source and load ports simultaneously, we employ Poincare distance as an associate index for the minimum power dissipation inside the matching circuits. Electromagnetic-field simulation is carried out to deduce the antenna’s self and mutual impedances, which are converted into the above two indices. The numerical result will be a standard reference when we explore or evaluate prospective wireless coupler schemes.
