Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Video viewing experience can be enriched by using a robot as a moving input/output interface. While approaches for integrating robot interfaces with television programming exist, they are presently not applicable to online videos. In this paper, we propose a method for embedding robot control signals in high frequency sounds in video content, where the signal processing is conducted within the equipment that is reproducing the video. Our experiment results suggest that the control signals have sufficient precision and data rate even when they are compressed as per television broadcasting standards. With our proposed method, it is possible to realize input/output robot interfaces that are not limited to on-air television programming.
