Micromagnetic analysis of MAMR recording head -- Tilted STO with narrow gap write head --

(in English) A micromagnetic model analysis of a spin-torque oscillator (STO) and write head for microwave-assisted magnetic recording was carried out. The write head had tapered main pole and side shields and was based on a cutting-edge, commercial write head. The main pole - trailing shield gap (MP – TS gap) was 20 nm and not parallel to avoid large magnetostatic interactions between the STO and the write head. The STO was integrated inside the gap and was exposed to the head air-bearing surface. First, it was confirmed using a STO model without write head that the field generation layer (FGL) field strength was more dependent on the distance between the FGL and the observation point than the FGL volume. It was also found that a small spin injection layer (SIL) area was not optimal. Next, using a STO model integrated into the MP-TS gap, it was confirmed that STO oscillated stably thanks to non-parallel MP-TS gap and larger SIL area relative to the FGL area.
