We have reported a base station antenna configuration that can expand the operating bandwidth of a reflector backed dipole antenna (RBDA) designed for 800MHz band to the 700MHz band. Meander loop shaped parasitic elements (MLPEs) are used to enlarge the bandwidth of the RBDA. Recent base station antennas mainly adopt multi-band integrated configurations. To investigate the antenna characteristics of the multi-band configuration of the proposed MLPE loaded RBDA, this paper focuses on the 800MHz/2GHz dual-band configuration and investigates the radiation characteristics of the 2GHz band antenna. Especially, the influence of the MLPE on the 2GHz band radiation characteristics is investigated in this paper. In addition, to suppress the distortion in the 2GHz radiation pattern, a MLPE configuration equipping chokes is proposed and the effectiveness is evaluated.
