Characteristics of Folded Bow Tie Antenna with a Reflector

(in English) Broadband and small antennas have been required for various applications, such as high speed data communication and subsurface radar and so on. Typical broadband antenna is a bow tie antenna, which can achieve the miniaturization of the antenna and the enhancement of the bandwidth by changing the antenna shape. In this paper, compact folded bow tie antenna is investigated. The effect of the reflector is examined in the impedance and radiation characteristics. As a result, the broadband characteristics can be maintained when the distance between antenna and reflector becomes 80 mm. In addition, the degradation of an antenna gain is confirmed at 1500 MHz.
