A Study of QoS Flow Control for non-GBR Traffic in Congestion using Existing Parameters in 5GS

(in English) Versatile services are expected to co-exist in 5th generation mobile network (5G) era. In the 5G System, based on Quality of Service (QoS), each generated traffic in these services is mapped to corresponding 5G QoS Flows, which is the finest granularity for QoS forwarding treatment. Besides this, the mapped traffic is categorized into Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) Traffic and non-GBR Traffic based on a difference of the resource type. However, non-GBR Traffic is integrally treated regardless of mapped 5G QoS Flows considering network load. Therefore, it is anticipated that QoS for non-GBR Traffic tends to be worsened, in case a congestion occurs in Access Network, where it is difficult to increase available resources. Namely, there is a trade-off between the improvement of QoS for non-GBR Traffic and the reduction of network load. In this paper, we consider a flow control method using already obtained information without any increase of network load and show a possibility of the improvement of QoS by simulation results.
