Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Silver electrical contacts are separated using a high-speed contact opening device to generate break arcs in a DC resistive circuit. Supply voltage is 48V. Circuit current when contacts are closed I0 is changed from 50A to 150A. Length of break arcs is investigated for each circuit current. Time evolution of the length is analyzed. The results show that the tendency of increase of arc length during break operations is similar to the tendency of increase of arc voltage. Maximum length of break arcs Lmax at I0=50A is shorter than Lmax at I0=100A and 150A. Lmax at I0=100A is about the same as Lmax at I0=150A.
