Analysis of Diffraction Characteristics at 28 GHz Band in a Connected-Car Communication Environment

(in English) Field trials assuming a connected-car communication environment in the 5th generation mobile systems have been carried out. Assuming the future generation mobile systems, an RF frequency at 28GHz band was adopted. In the trials, propagation characteristics including diffractions by a blocking obstacle were measured. In this report, we present the results of the analysis of the diffraction characteristics based on the Knife-edge method and the UTD (Uniform Theory of Diffraction) method containing the slope diffraction. We analyze the contribution of the diffracted paths by each surface of the obstacle by separately calculating the strength of the paths by the UTD method. The frequency characteristics of the diffractions by the blocking are also calculated and presented in this paper.
