Comparison of Soft-Starting Methods for Suppressing Start-up Current Overshoot in Wireless Power Transfer via Magnetic Resonance Coupling

(in English) Although in-motion wireless charging of electric vehicles has attracted a great deal of attention, its transient characteristics become ever more important because a slow-start of power transmission may lead to a lost opportunity to receive energy from a road facility.
Additionally, an overshoot causes an increase of installed capacity and damages infrastructure components.
In this paper, soft-starting methods are proposed for suppressing a start-up current overshoot in wireless power transfer via magnetic resonance coupling considering a start-up trajectory of an input voltage.
A comparative review of these methods is demonstrated by experiments.
