Joint Design of Multi-tap Analog Canceller and Digital Beamforming for Two-Way Full Duplex MIMO Systems

(in English) We consider a two-way full-duplex (FD) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication system in which nodes are equipped both with multi-tap analog interference cancellers and TX-RX beamforming capabili- ties, and aim at both maximizing the rate and minimizing the self-interference (SI) in such a system. Although some novel SI cancellation techniques for FD systems have been proposed over the past decade, the hardware resources required for analog self-interference cancellation become a main bottleneck to extend a normal FD system to a FD MIMO communication system, since they scale with the number of antenna elements. To tackle this problem, a new architecture for analog SI cancellation called multi-tap analog canceller is adopted in this paper, where the number of hardware resource does not scale with the number of antennas. The MMSE-based joint design framework of TX-RX beamforming and SI cancellation scheme proposed relies only on a simple iterative procedure performed with quantities evaluated via closed form expressions for the MMSE scaling factor and the beamforming matrix here derived. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is capable of suppressing residual interference down to background noise levels typical of wireless systems, significantly outperforming similar methods previously proposed.
