In recent years, wireless communications in seawater by using electromagnetic waves has been studied because a robust communication method in seawater has been desired. In seawater, the higher frequency is, the stronger attenuation electromagnetic waves have. To extend propagation distance, lower frequencies should be used if bandwidth allows.
However, the wavelength of lower frequency electromagnetic wave is too long to use antennas that adjusted to its wavelength even in seawater. Therefore, antennas in seawater are usually small antennas, so matching circuits are required. In this report, the propagation characteristics between small antennas in seawater are simulated. And transmission efficiencies are calculated when matching circuits that include losses are connected to these antennas. |
