On Reduction of Calculation Complexity of Polar Codes over Fading Channels

(in English) Algorithms for improving performances of polar codes over fading channels have been proposed, but it seems to be a problem to increase the calculation complexity by applying an algorithm to all code blocks. In this paper, we propose a method to judge the application of the algorithm for each code block and evaluate bit error rate performances. Specifically, the average value of the amplitudes (absolute values) of the propagation path values for each code block is compared with the threshold value, and the algorithm is applied only to the code blocks whose average value is below the threshold value to reduce the calculation complexity. Although it depends on the value of the Doppler frequency, as a result of the computer simulations over the frequency nonselective Rayleigh fading channels, we make it quantitatively clear that even if the performance improvement algorithm is applied limitedly, the performances are equivalent to those applied to all code blocks.
