Multi-CDN is being deployed rapidly, which enables switching of the content delivery network. To utilize the multi-CDN effectively, it is important to establish the CDN-selection algorithm appropriately. However, existing selection algorithms select CDNs based on the short-term communication quality. Therefore, existing algorithms may select inappropriate CDNs and user's quality of experience may decrease. In this paper, in order to clarify the long-term throughput characteristics, we analyzed throughput data when we access to the server on the assumption of we can regard the communication quality of CDN as that of servers in the Internet. In the result, we found that the unpredictable throughput deterioration occurs when we access to the server. On the basis of this long-term throughput characteristics, we propose the novel CDN selection algorithm. Our algorithm selects the server which has the largest deterioration interval on average. The evaluation clarified that our algorithm achieved 212 times better throughput than a single CDN because our algorithm improve the throughput significantly when the server deteorirates randomly. Also, we achieved substantial improvement compared to existing selection algorithms. |
