Approximate computing based on extension of DRAM refresh interval and data correction

(in English) As DRAM capacity increases, there is concern that energy consumption will increase due to the refresh. Therefore, we propose a method to reduce the energy consumption of DRAM. We propose a method of approximate computing that extends the automatic refresh interval of DRAM to reduce energy consumption. By increasing the automatic refresh interval, energy consumption caused by refreshing can be reduced. However, there is a problem that data held in the DRAM volatilizes and data errors occur. In order to suppress the mistake rate, we proposed a method to incorporate data reconstruction using block reversal method, parity check, median filter, etc., and the evaluation results are shown. As a result, we were able to reduce energy consumption by about 50~60% while maintaining the image quality at PSNR: 30 dB, SSIM: 0.99.
