Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) DC motors with brush and commutator are widely used in automobiles and other applications. Due to advances in technology in recent years, miniaturization and high power output of motors are highly requested, and high speed rotation is one way to realize that request. It has been clarified that commutating arcs have a great influence on the performance of DC motors so far.
In this paper,20 hour experiments were conducted at the commutator rotation speeds of 1000/min and 5000/min. It is aimed to clarify the influence of the rotation speed on the arc duration time and the brush wear. Furthermore the effective commutation periods are obtained from the voltage / current waveforms.
