Study on performance and function of fixed-wing UAV for rapid observation of large farmland

(in English) Recently, unmanned air vehicles represented by multi-copters are actively used for observation of farm land, forest, and volcanos and measuring. The average area of farmland per one farmhouse in Hokkaido is about 26 ha, which is more than ten times as large as that all over Japan. For the observation of crops in the large farm land, it is necessary to get the image under the identical sun light conditions, the observation by UAV should be completed in a short time. Aiming at the rapid observation, this paper proposes the observation system which makes use of the fixed wing UAV and investigates return algorithm generation method in case of emergency for safe flight and the weight of mission equipment onboard UAV.
