Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The booming of consumer electronic devices led to hand gestures being focused on as a natural means of man-machine communication. However, previous gesture-detecting systems had restrictions such as requiring additional devices. In this study, we discuss AudioGest, which is the system utilizing pairs of a speaker and a microphone built into personal computers or smartphones to detect user’s hand gestures by Doppler effect. This system overcomes the problems the previous methods had. We implement a software that controls commodity PCs using the AudioGest system.
