A Maximum Likelihood Estimation-Based Clock Synchronization Method for Multiple Moving Objects
Kosuke Matsui, Shinsuke Hara (Osaka City Univ.) RCC2017-106
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to synchronize clocks between objects, a method based on the principle of Two Way Ranging (TWR) is used in NTP(Network Time Protocol) and IEEE 1588 standard, however, they do not perform accurately when the objects are in motion.
In this paper, for multiple moving objects, we propose a clock synchronization method based on the maximum likelihood estimation using their location information.
By computer simulation, we show that the proposed method can perform accurate clock synchronization unlike conventional methods.
In addition, we show that, as the communication range decreases relative to the movable area of objects, the time required to synchronization increases because more packets for clock synchronization are lost by collisions.
