Recently, the number of smartphone users has been increasing, and thus it causes large load to the network and servers.
P2P (Peer-to-peer) communication attracts attention as a solution to solve such a problem.
The authors have proposed a P2P network construction method based on location information using the GPS (Global Positioning System) installed in mobile terminals.
However, the purpose of the conventional method is to realize a location-based P2P network, and any effective communication method has not been considered: There remain difficulties on the communication stability and scalability in case where many terminals participate in the same peer group.
In this paper, we propose an efficient location-based P2P network construction method to reduce direct connections between peers.
The proposed method categorizes neighbor peers into direct communication peers and multi-hop communication peers depending on the distances, and tries to reduce the direct connections to faraway peers.
The results obtained by computer simulation show that the proposed method achieves to reduce the total number of P2P connections.
It is also found that the optimal ratio of the number of peers that should be directly connected changes according to the number of neighbor peers. |
