Evaluation of Voltage Stability by Secondary Coil Position of Wireless Power Transfer by Gradient Winding Primary Coil Array

(in English) Wireless power transfer utilizing magnetic coupling has been practically used for a long time in portable equipment. Furthermore, in the future, the primary coil area tends to broaden, including support for multiple devices. On the other hand, in the primary coil of an area that is excessively wide relative to the secondary coil, magnetic flux is generated also in an area not related to power supply by the exciting current, causing problems such as an increase in noise and standby power. As a countermeasure against this, a spot feeding system has been proposed in which a plurality of primary coils are arrayed and only the primary coil under the secondary coil is excited. However, there is a problem that the received voltage drops more than the other positions on the side portions of the adjacent primary coils. The author has studied method the receiving voltage becomes constant on the entire surface of the coil array and can use the gradient winding coil to stabilize the receiving voltage on the whole surface of the coil array without increasing the thickness of the primary coil was confirmed.
