Design of Wideband Microstrip Filtering Antenna Using Short Stub Structure

(in English) In recent years, a filtering antenna has been rapidly developed because it can be designed with a well-known filter synthesis approach, thereby realizing a frequency bandwidth predetermined as design specifications. However, there is a problem that the conventional filter synthesis method using a narrowband approximation cannot be applied to the design of filtering antenna with a wider frequency bandwidth than 10%. In this paper, we propose a design method of wideband filtering antenna having a Chebyshev response without using narrowband approximation, and a new microstrip structure of filtering antenna having such a wideband frequency response. As an example, we design a fifth-order filtering antenna with center frequency of 4.0 GHz and a fractional bandwidth of 20%, which is simply composed of the connection of short stubs and a patch antenna. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed design method is proved through measurements of the fabricated filtering antenna.
