[Encouragement Talk] A Proposal of Scheduling to Improve QoS of Periodic Flows in Wireless Multihop Sensor Networks

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently, the demand for wireless networks treating periodical traffic is increasing. However, this tendency causes the problem that packet collisions occur continuously among different periodical traffic, in the case that packet generation and forwarding timing of a source sensor node overlaps with that of other nodes. Although IEEE 802.11 DCF can detect packet collision and retransmit the lost packets to some extent, this approach does not solve the collision itself caused by the above-mentioned overlapping timing because packets generating from different source node successively collide as long as the transmission timing is similar. In this paper, we study a transmission scheduling method that shifts the packet generation phase to avoid future collisions in environments where packets from source nodes are transferred to the sink by multihop communication. This method adopts naive random access control, DCF, for the MAC layer, and the source nodes do not require significant computational power.
