Identification of kQ Product for Wireless Power Transfer System with Open End Coils Based on Input Impedance Measurement

(in English) Efficiency characteristics of wireless power transfer (WPT) via magnetic resonance coupling are determined by kQ product, which is given by coupling coefficient and quality factors of a transmitter and receiver. However, it is complicated to identify the kQ product of the WPT system with open end coils because the stray capacitor of the open end coil is used for the self-resonance and cannot be removed. In this paper, an identification method of the kQ product is proposed based on the input impedance measurement. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can identify the kQ product and evaluate the efficiency characteristics.
