Comparison of 85 kHz Self-resonant Open-end Coils with Different Types of Wire for Capacitor-less Wireless Power Transfer System

(in English) In wireless power transfer (WPT), it is common to use magnetic resonance coupling by combining a resonance capacitor with a short-end coil.
However, high resonance voltage due to high quality factor may cause a breakdown of the resonance capacitor.
An open-end coil can be self-resonated with stray capacitances and can solve the problem by excluding the resonance capacitor.
Even with high power, the maintenance is not necessary if the open-end coil is employed.
In this paper, $85,mathrm{kHz}$ self-resonant open-end coils are designed for a capacitor-less WPT system.
The experiments show the power transmission characteristics in polyvinyl chloride insulated wire (KIV wire) and solid wire, to demonstrate the most suitable wire type for this coil.
