[Poster Presentation] A Mach-Zehnder Mode/Wavelength Multi/Demultiplexer based on Si/Silica Hybrid PLC Platform

(in English) Combined use of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and mode division multiplexing (MDM) attracts a lot of attention for expanding network capacity. For WDM/MDM transmission, a broadband mode/wavelength multi/demultiplexer (MUX/DEMUX) is necessary. In this work, we propose a silica-PLC-based Mach-Zehnder (MZ) interferometer mode/wavelength MUX. The MZ filter for mode and wavelength can be constructed by newly designed broadband 3dB-mode-divider. Furthermore, the MZ mode MUX based on Si/silica hybrid platform is also proposed, and the size of the chip is drastically reduced compared with that of silica-PLC.
