Discovering Optimal Matching among Projected Image Sets with View Constraints for 3D Object Detection in Point Clouds

(in English) In this paper, we propose a method for 3D object detection in point clouds.
Our method obtains projected image sets by projecting point clouds of the object and scene into multiple viewpoints.
We introduce a constraint imposed by the relationships among the image-projection directions for the object point clouds, to discover the optimal matching of the projected image sets.
We apply principal component analysis to object point clouds to estimate the appropriate viewpoints for highly discriminative image features.
Then, we back-project matching results that are obtained from optimal correspondence into 3D space to achieve 3D object detection.
Experiments using public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and performance of the proposed method.
