Experimental Verification of Current Sensorless ZVS Assist Control Based on Voltage Transition Waveform

(in English) The main cause of an efficiency degradation in a DC to DC converter is a switching loss. ZVS assist circuit is known as a technique for reducing the switching loss. This technique reduces switching loss by achieving Zero Voltage Switching with assisting current from an assist circuit. However, this technique requires a current sensor with high response and high precision, because it is necessary to control the sharp current of the assist circuit. In previous paper, we proposed a current sensorless ZVS control method based on voltage transition waveform. In this paper, we verified this method with real circuit. As a result, the power loss was reduced by 43% compared with the conventional contisnuous-current-mode buck converter.
