Distributed Resource Management following the Load Fluctuation of Edge Servers in Widely Distributed Processing System

(in English) Recently, physical data can be corrected from IoT devices, such as smart phone or in-vehicle cameras in real-time. Accordingly, IoT services making use of these real-time data are provided. Their services is necessary to meet high response performance. As technology supporting them, Edge computing which execute tasks on edge servers equipped computing resources installed near IoT devices and users is spotlighted. In Edge computing, computing resource may not be prepared for abundantly because it is difficult to predict resource demand exactly. Therefore, values of demand for resource for each edge server may locally exceed quantity of resource of the edge server. To distribute tasks in high loads, it is necessary to discovery edge servers which resources is idle from among widely distributed edge servers. However, if the discovery of the space resource takes a long time, the queuing time increases because tasks can't distribute. It is a problem that response performance deteriorates. In this paper, we make a group collecting the resource values regularly and change a group dynamically following loads change in the group. At this time, proposal technique discovery for the edge server resources which there is more likely to be idle from edge servers in the group in advance indirectly. In this way, we reduce the resource discovery time and suppress overhead. Our simulation results show that the resource discovery time is reduced by proposal technique.
