A 28GHz High Accuracy 6-bit Vector-Sum Phase Shifter for High SHF Wide-band Massive MIMO in 5G

(in English) In 5th generation mobile communication system (5G), the active phased array antenna (APAA) have attracted attention to realize the Massive MIMO by the beamforming. Since the accuracies of phase control is important for the beamforming, the phase shifter (PS) with high accuracy is required. This paper proposes the high accuracy vector-sum phase shifter. The vector-sum PS is configured by the poly phase filter (PPF) to generate the IQ signals and variable gain amplifier (VGA). The proposed PS reduces the phase error caused by the IQ signals phase mismatch in outputs of the PPF using the control method to suppress the input impedance of the VGA. Also this paper shows the measured results of the 28GHz 6-bit vector-sum PS applied the proposed method in 65nm CMOS technology.
