Hidden Semi-Markov Model Representing State Overlap for Multiple Sequential Data Input

(in English) This paper proposes an extended hidden semi-Markov model (HSMM) to handle multiple sequence inputs. The significant limitation of conventional methods for sequential data modeling is to handle only single sequential data. However, recent developments of sensors that collect sensing data simultaneously as a "grouped sequence" of observations or events have urged us to accommodate them efficiently. Because grouping of multiple sequences causes multiple overlapping observations in the same time period, it is necessary to model such grouped sequences considering such overlaps. To this end, we propose an extended hidden semi-Markov models for multiple sequential data input. This present paper describes the proposed model as well as practical methods to learn and recognize multiple sequences using the proposed model. Exhaustive evaluations are finally provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed model.
