Performance Evaluation on a Location/Channel Parameter Estimation Method in Implant BAN

(in English) A wireless capsule endoscope, which is one of implant medical devices with wireless communication function, has attracted much attention. For efficient treatment based on wireless capsule endoscopy, it is important to acquire the location of the wireless capsule endoscope with high accuracy. In this paper, we pay attention to received signal strength indicator (RSSI)-based localization. However, in order to realize precise location estimation with an RSSI-based method, it is necessary to measure channel parameters in advance, which represent the RSSI variation in the implant communication. For this reason, we focused on joint location/channel parameters estimation and investigated its performance by computer simulations and experiments using a liquid phantom. In addition, we showed the effectiveness of our proposed method by deriving the theoretical lower bound of the location estimation error.
