The cooperative WiGig/Wi-Fi multi-user content delivery system is presented. It employs the heterogeneous architecture where WiGig is used for high speed content download and Wi-Fi is responsible for authentication and connection management. To minimize latency due to WiGig connection establishment, the paper proposes the application-centric WiGig/Wi-Fi cooperative connection management which establishes the WiGig connection before the download request from user terminals. To prove the concept, a WiGig signage prototype has been developed, demonstrating 1.8 Gbps maximum throughput per user under a multi-user environment. Measurements also show the WiGig connection is established before the download request with more than 90% probability, showing effectiveness of the proposed application-centric connection management scheme. |
