[Tutorial Lecture] OTA Assessment for Next Generation Mobile Communication Terminals

(in English) This paper describes a fading emulator OTA (Over-the-Air) testing apparatus and its measurement method for next generation mobile communication terminals that involve mobile communication MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) terminals under a small cell propagation environment and BAN (Body Area Network) mobile terminals operated in a human dynamic channel. Firstly, a 3-dimensional OTA apparatus for evaluating the channel capacity of MIMO terminal is introduced, where a method of the implementation for embedding the base station correlation in the measurement instrument under the small cell propagation environment is described. Then, a method of measuring the throughput of a commercial MIMO terminal under the cluster propagation environment is explained. Finally, a method is described for evaluating the BER (Bit-Error-Rate) characteristics of a BAN terminal using an OTA testing system considering the human dynamic motion.
