[Invited Lecture] Semi-Blind Adaptive Interference Cancellation with Decision Feedback Channel Estimation on Multicell Massive MIMO Uplink

(in English) This paper proposes a semi-blind uplink interference suppression scheme for multicell multiuser massive MIMO systems. In single frequency networks, inter-cell interference (ICI) becomes extensive when a number of users are spatially multiplexed. Though the orthogonal pilots enable efficient channel state information (CSI) estimation for multiuser MIMO, they must be reused among cells due to the limitation of orthogonal sequence set. It causes pilot contamination and thus inter-user interference (IUI) cannot be suppressed enough. In the massive MIMO systems, ICI and IUI can be potentially suppressed since base station has excess degrees of freedom (DoF). Our proposal applies constant modulus algorithm (CMA) and exploits CSI based minimum mean-square error (MMSE) reception weight as an initial input of CMA. Obtained weight can extract desired signal for desired UTs by suppressing IUI and ICI. In addition, decision feedback channel estimation (DFCE) is then introduced to further enhance interference suppression performance by improving CSI estimation accuracy. A series of signal processing, MMSE--CMA--DFCE, can be iteratively performed. Computer simulation reveals that the proposed scheme can improve outage probability where SINR = 10 dB threshold and it satisfies below CDF=5% by iterative process with reduced number of data symbol.
