(in English) Recently, mobile communication systems for the fifth generation (5G) in higher frequency bands have been extensively studied. A Massive-MIMO system is one of the promising technologies to improve spectral efficiency. Authors have been engaged on the research subject: “Wideband Massive MIMO and beam control technologies for high SHF bands” for "The research and development project for realization of the fifth-generation mobile communications system -High Data Rate and Low-Power-Consumption Radio Access Technologies with Ultra Higher-Frequency-Band and Wider-Bandwidth Massive MIMO" commissioned by The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan. This report describes the initial results of this research and development for 28 GHz band, antenna RF module equipment and wideband modem equipment for high speed transmission, Massive MIMO transmission evaluation results using the propagation measurement data at 28 GHz band, and the proposals for 5G standardization.
