(in English) Digital color shift keying (DCSK) is a visible light communication (VLC) intensity modulation method, which can fulfill the both roles of lighting and communication by using RGB-light emitting diodes (LED) array.
DCSK transmits data through the intensity rate of RGB-LEDs, which can be represented by digital “on-off” LED control by multiple RGB-LEDs.
For the dimming control method of DCSK, two kinds of dimming scheme are considered.
One is the pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming scheme, which changes the duty cycle of optical transmit signals, and the other is the digital pulse amplitude modulation (DPAM) dimming scheme, which changes the number of RGB-LEDs usage.
In the former research, combining these two dimming scheme can realize the wider dimming range than DPAM, and the higher spectral efficiency than PWM.
In this paper, we focus on this hybrid PWM/DPAM dimming control for DCSK, and experimentally evaluate the dimming accuracy and the effective throughput performance by each dimming level.
