Imaging analyses on the spatio-temporal neural responses to light stimuli in the visual cortices of the mouse cerebral hemispheres

(in English) In mammals, the visual information in the binocular visual field is transmitted to the both visual cortices through optic chiams and the lateral geniculate nucleus. In addition, it is thought that unification of the information is carried out between both hemispheres through a corpus callosum. However, the spread characteristic of the spatio-temporal neural responses generated through these nerve projection is yet unknown. So, in this study, we gave full-field light stimulation to the mouse eye and investigated the neural response on the visual cortices in both hemispheres with the voltage-sensitive dye imaging technique in vivo. We revealed that there were clear differences in the latency and lateral propagation manner between the responses induced by the contralateral and ipsilateral eye stimulation.
