Indonesia is home of 5% of world?s tropical peatlands that plays an important role in carbon storage. Data of peat depth or thickness are important for land management and can be estimated by ground penetrating radar. We deployed a 80Mhz antenna in Common Mid Point (CMP) technique in Sumatra. We found a reflector signature in boundary between peat and the mineral soil. However, the organic material in peat soils such as sapric, hemic and fibric still need further research to be identified. We will present our findings on soil physics and the compatibility of GPR on peatland. |
