In this report, analog transmission performance of Tone Code, one of the audio data hiding techniques proposed by the authors for musical pieces. There are three principle components in musical pieces in general, say, rhythm, melody and harmony. Tone Code is an audio data hiding scheme embedding the secret information into the specific frequency components constructing the chord progression of the musical pieces, which corresponds to harmony among the three components. This method is a kind of “hearable” audio hiding schemes since the embedded information sequence can be considered as an additive sound signal played by musical instruments such as digital synthesizers. In the previous studies, it has been shown that the stego sound can be naturally recognizable by human ears, and that the embedded information can be successfully extracted even under the high payload. The bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed method, however, has not been very good if the stego sound signal is transmitted through an analog channel from a loud speaker to the microphone at the receiver. In this study, we propose a method to improve the analog transmission performance of Tone Code, and evaluate BER properties through the actual experiments under the analog channel scenario. |
