Evaluation of Vital Sign Distribution Using Multiple Antennas

Although non-contact vital sign detection using microwave has been studied for observing heartbeat and respiration components of the living body, no study has clarified where the vital sign comes from. In this report, we evaluated the vital sing distribution using the array antenna in front and back of the living body, where a beamformer method was used. In this method, we estimated propagation channel between transmitting and receiving array antennas, and extracted information of frequency components corresponding to vital sign. We estimated a direction of arrival of various frequency components using extracted channel information, and evaluated the vital sign distribution. The experiment showed a vital sign distributes intensely at left part of the chest, which corresponds to the source location of cardiac impulse. |
